Kumihimo
We explored the unique world of Kumihimo!
This Japanese tradition is perfect for making jewelry and other decorative accessories! The class will include a beginner's version and a challenge for those who have already done kumihimo before. If you have never tried Kumihimo, you won't be disappointed and will get to take your own disk home at the end of the class! |

Huck Towel
Marti Zoerb taught the CFA Guild to make Huck Towels using specialty cloth, needles, and bleach-resistant thread. This style of handwork is a blend of embroidery and weaving that stems from a Swedish tradition called Swedish Weaving. This unique fiber art provides a broad canvas for creativity!
We look forward to seeing you there! Remember to RSVP at [email protected] The class fee will be $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. |

Fiber Faces Using the book "Making Faces in Fabric" by Melissa Alverinos, we created a self-portrait or a portrait of someone else using fabric, glue, and quilting techniques. In the class, we will learn the basic proportions of the human face and how to turn it into a piece of fiber art.

Crochet Necklaces and Tassels
We learned to work with chain stitch, using silk thread, size 1 crochet hooks, and seed beads! It was a challenge and our membership stepped up to it and made some lovely pieces with their newly learned skills!

We at the CFA Guild, like to learn new things with old skills!
We will be making a decorative board full of knots at our class in June! Past CFA Guild President Mike Ellis will be leading us through the making of several useful knot-tying techniques. We hope to see you join us at the new Bernina location this June! |
|
In August, we will learn a skill as old as buttons! Dorset Buttons are a lovely example of artistry and economy. Need a button, but want to add some pizzazz to the outfit? Then, this is your new skill! Learn with us at the CFA Guild!

The CFA Guild will be learning from President Rebecca Heid, a skill that has history steeped in every sweep of the bobbin. To this day, Bobbin lace is a popular heritage and artistic expression in many countries around the world. There are many different sorts of lace to learn and we will simply be dipping our toes into a bit of tape lace, using a simple, but versatile cloth stitch to make a bracelet of Rebecca's design. |

We worked together as a guild to create these fun, Sashiko-inspired angels with the help of CFA Guild Vice President Sally Moore. The stitches that focus the eye on negative space has been taught in our guild several times and being able to take that knowledge to make a new project was inspiring!
