Paper Embroidery with Zach!

This May, Vice President Zach will be teaching us one of his favorite fiber art skills, paper embroidery!
Join us for a fun and imaginative Paper Embroidery workshop with the Chattanooga Fiber Arts Guild! In this hands-on class, we’ll explore the art of stitching on paper to create unique collage-style designs. Using simple embroidery techniques, participants will layer thread, paper, and embellishments to craft expressive, textured pieces that blend fiber arts with mixed media. This class encourages creativity and personal interpretation—no two projects will be alike! Perfect for all skill levels, from curious beginners to seasoned stitchers looking to try something new. All materials provided. |

Community Project
Update: You guys are amazing! We have collected more than 100 hats already! They are very much appreciated and we should keep up the good work!
The Chattanooga Fiber Arts Guild is thrilled to announce our 2025 community-oriented project: creating handmade hats for oncology patients in our area. This heartfelt initiative is an opportunity to use our talents to bring warmth and comfort to those undergoing treatment.
We invite all members—and anyone who loves fiber arts—to join us in this meaningful effort. Our goal is simple yet powerful: for each participant to craft at least one hat during the year, with as many more as your heart desires. Every hat will be donated to local oncology departments, where they will be given to patients to help them stay cozy and cared for during their treatment journey.
Let’s come together as a community of creators to make a difference, one stitch at a time. Your contribution, no matter how small, can touch lives in ways you may never imagine. Join us in spreading warmth, hope, and love through this beautiful project!

February 8 Loop Yarn Pillow Class!

Join us for the loop yarn class where Carol Heatherly will be guiding us through this fun and useful technique while creating soft and comfy pillows to bring home! We will be using some fluffy yarn and clever work with our fingers! Remember to bring lunch, a drink, and something you've made for show and tell!

March 8: Reverse Applique

Reverse applique is a sewing technique where layers of fabric are sewn together and then the top layer is cut away to reveal the fabric below. The piece can be further embellished with more stitching or the addition of beads, buttons, etc.
In March we will layer a printed fabric with a knit and use a simple running stitch to define a pattern. You will get almost everything you need in a kit, but if you have a fabric you would like to use or want to bring an assortment of embroidery thread and beads that will enable you to further personalize your fabric piece. Please bring to class a pair of small scissors. Optional 12" x 12" printed quilt weight fabric, embroidery thread, beads. |
April Class: Felt Inchies

This April, join us for a fun and creative guild gathering as we turn those random notions scattered throughout our craft rooms into Felt Inchies! These tiny, artistic pieces can be used individually or combined into a larger display, making them a perfect way to showcase your unique style. Bring your lunch and make a day of it! We’ll enjoy stitching together, sharing ideas, and connecting with fellow fiber artists and crafters.
