Beginner Wet Felting: Make a Small Purse
Learn the basics of wet felting while creating your own small, one-of-a-kind wool purse! Students will learn how to layer wool fibers, add warm soapy water, and use rubbing and rolling techniques to transform loose wool into a sturdy piece of felt. We’ll work over a simple resist to create the purse shape, then finish it with a button, clasp, or strap. No previous felting experience is needed—just come ready to get your hands a little wet and have fun! Wet-felted pouches and small purses are especially beginner-friendly projects because they introduce the fundamentals of working with a resist without requiring a large amount of wool. |

Jerome will guide participants step by step through the basics of spinning fiber into yarn, offering expert tips and encouragement along the way. Join us as we hand-sew these useful and beautiful little bags with Treasurer Karen Downer!
These relatively small Lotus bags make great little gifts for holding candy, flower seeds, gift cards, Kleenexes, money, jewelry, etc. We will do the Lotus bag, and the vessel is made exactly the same way. You use sturdier fabric, like an orphan quilted block, or for home decor fabric. With thick fabric, you can see it won’t close and stands up on its own. After learning this skill, you will be able to return home with the skills to make your own! |

Ply-Split Braiding

Join us as we learn how to create a cord and use it for Ply-split braiding with Mike! We will be able to try our hands at this unique braiding technique using some of the guild's yarns! If you have a yarn you would rather use, please bring it with you!
Ply-split braiding is a distinctive cord-making technique in which one twisted cord (the splitter) passes through another twisted cord or group of cords, separating their plies (the splittees). Unlike weaving or traditional braiding methods that rely on threads crossing in an over-under sequence, ply-split braiding builds structure through the placement and interaction of the cords themselves.
